Safety controls for messages, reviews and marketplace activity

Report concerns in context or through the complaints centre. We acknowledge each report, protect the reporter’s identity from other users, assess urgency and record the outcome.

Report in context

Use Report beside a message or review. This preserves the exact item reference without asking you to copy harmful material.

Stop direct contact

Block a user from the job conversation. Job status information remains available on the job page.

Receive a case number

Every submitted report is acknowledged immediately. Signed-in reporters can follow visible case events and outcomes.

What must be reported

ServiceLink prohibits use of messages, reviews, jobs or profiles to solicit, access, distribute or store unlawful or highly harmful material. This includes child sexual exploitation material, pro-terror material, extreme crime or violence material, unlawful drug-related material, image-based abuse, credible threats, stalking, scams and publication of another person's private details.

Do not copy, download or attach suspected child sexual exploitation material. Report where it appears. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services before using the ServiceLink reporting process.

How we handle a report

  1. 1

    Acknowledgement

The system records the report and issues a case number. The reported user is not told who made the report.

  2. 2

    Risk-based triage

Child safety, terrorism or extreme violence, immediate danger and other high-harm reports are prioritised for trained review and escalation.

  3. 3

    Proportionate action

Depending on evidence and risk, action may include preserving evidence, restricting material, stopping contact, suspending access or referring a matter to the appropriate authority.

  4. 4

    Outcome and review

The case record states the outcome and proposed action. A reporter or affected account holder can ask for review through the complaints centre.

External reporting and guidance

ServiceLink's process does not prevent a report to police, a regulator, a court or another body. eSafety explains which online harms it can investigate and separately accepts complaints about possible non-compliance with online safety codes and standards.
